Entry Information
Entry fees are $5 and must be paid at time of entry. Late entry fees will be $25. Entry fees are non-refundable.

Show Rules
- All exhibitors must be a current Junior member of the American Doper Sheep Breeders’ Society (ADSBS) and in good standing. The ADSBS recognizes a junior member as a member 21 years of age and younger as of January 1st of the current year.
- Ownership of the sheep may be in an individual junior member’s name or co-owned by siblings, as long as both are junior members. Ownership in farms, families, 4-H Clubs or FFA chapters is not acceptable.
- Sheep must be ADSBS registered purebred or fullblood Dorpers or White Dorpers. The original Registration Certificate must be provided at check-in to the event. If not provided the online profile on the ADSBS registry site may be used to verify proof of ownership.
- Standard interstate health paper issued within 30 days of the show is required for each animal, and may be required by show management at check-in. All sheep are subject to random vet checks. All sheep must be identified with a USDA scrapie ear tag.
- There is no minimum age for exhibitors, but the youth exhibitor must be physically capable of controlling and showing their own sheep, except in cases of physical disabilities. Another youth exhibitor may assist as heeler to set hind legs.
- Exhibitors must show their own entries unless the exhibitor has more than one animal in the same class or permission is given by the show superintendent. Substitute show persons must be eligible Junior members of ADSBS.
- Sheep will be show flat-footed and are not to be braced.
- Fitting: All sheep must be properly washed and sheared.
- The use of coloring agents to change skin, hair, or hoof pigment is prohibited. The use of adhesives and glues for purpose of fitting hair is prohibited. Addition of twine, hair, or any substance (such as to “build” legs) is prohibited.
- Sheep may be shown with or without halters in all classes.
- Showmanship will be open to all Junior exhibitors. No entry fee for Showmanship.
- Substitutions may be made
- Show management reserves the right to change, combine or delete classes with insufficient entries
Production Ewe Contest
This contest showcases a Junior member’s participation in the production of Dorper and White Dorper ewes and their offspring. Components of the contest include record keeping, stockmanship and public speaking.
Production Ewe Contest Rules

- Entry Deadline: April 7, 2023
- Ewes must be properly washed and sheared, but will be shown loose, individually. Lambs weaned from the ewe will also be washed and sheared. Young lambs on their dam’s side will be shown naturally. Lambs may be ewes, rams or wethers.
- Youth will be allowed to show no more than two (2) production projects per show
Scoring
- Record Book (25%)
- Record forms are to be kept on the ewe from breed date on documenting costs. Forms should be put in a folder or binder with a cover sheet with the exhibitor’s name. Charts, photographs, and other supporting documents may be included. Record books will be judged by a panel of individuals and scores averaged together.
- Exhibitors may use the ADSBS Production Ewe Contest Record Book template available on this page or may create their own.
- Interviews (25%)
- Conducted by a panel of individuals. Topics and potential questions will relate to sheep husbandry, agriculture, their own animals, record
- books and any questions the judges would like to add at their discretion
- Live Animal Evaluation (50%)
- The project ewe and her lamb(s) are shown loose. Judging will be based off of conformation, soundness and overall production traits. Lambs may be ewes, rams or wethers.
